Camagüey, Nov 28.- With the pride that comes from being worthy heirs to the heroic traditions of struggle of the Cuban people, this Friday a group of officers from the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) of the Camagüey Military Region were promoted to the next higher rank, in a political act and promotion ceremony held at the Major General Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz Revolution Square.
In the presence of Walter Simón Noris, president of the Provincial Defense Council; Jorge Enrique Sutil Sarabia, vice president of that instance; Brigadier General José Antonio Murciega López, head of the Military Region; and Colonel Miguel Portelles Bruzón, second-in-command of the Ministry of the Interior, the imposition of military ranks was carried out on the officers who, due to their accumulated merits and results in their work, earned the high recognition.

In the ceremony—where representatives of the mass organizations in the territory and family members of the promoted were also present—Lieutenant Colonel Graciela Pozo Valton, head of the Military Region's Personnel Section, read the orders from the chiefs authorized to promote and decorate the group of combatants. In the central speech of the event, Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Justiz Herrera, head of the Military Sector in Nuevitas, reaffirmed the commitment of the FAR members, "men and women willing to preserve the free and sovereign homeland, while it is a satisfaction to see how many comrades were promoted to the next higher rank for their results and exemplary conduct in the defense of the socialist Revolution."

The promotion ceremony is part of the activities in Camagüey that salute the 69th anniversary of the landing of the yacht Granma and the Day of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, commemorated on December 2. (Text: Gleibis Gómez Durvas/Radio Cadena Agramonte) (Photos: Luis Naranjo/Televisión Camagüey)
